SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

Engine & Vehicle Development and Test

Ensures product performance to specification by:

1. Test riding completed motorcycle on a roller test platform or vehicle chassis test device.

2. Setting up test programs, recording test data and results and analyzing data.

3. Maintaining regular communication with other Work Group's furnishing and obtaining quality information.

4. Performing test and inspections.

5.  Logging product performance and using the Test Incident Reporting process.

6.  Follow the USH Product Development Methodology for launching products and assuring readiness.

 

Engine & Vehicle Repair/Mechanic

Develops, diagnoses and repairs vehicle by:

1. Repairing engines & motorcycles.

2. Repairing or replacing defects related to the entire vehicle, both functional and cosmetic              (i.e. frames, electrical systems, suspensions, etc.)

3. Using appropriate tools such as hand, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or precision tools.

4. Diagnosing and repairing vehicle process equipment to ensure production readiness.

 

UNIVERSAL DUTIES:

 

Maintains Records and Reports by:

 1. Recording and charting quality, productivity and any related group scorecard measures.

 

Ensures Safe Work Environment by:

 1. Adhering to housekeeping guidelines in entire work group area.

 2. Enforcing all Company safety policies and/or rules and those unique to the Work Group.

 3. Attending and participating in all safety training required in the WG's.

 4. Performing safety inspection on a daily basis (lights, horns, tires, fluid levels, emergency stops, electrical wires, machine guards, etc...).

 

Contributes to group effort by:

 1. Training and familiarizing work group members with WG processes.

 2. Working with work groups, committees and/or other stakeholders to resolve  tool, material, equipment or process problems.

 3. Participating in group processes and structure as defined by the employee handbook (i.e.:  production schedules, factory objectives, budgets, etc...)

 4. Participating in developing, following and continuously improving operations and processes        (i.e.: work instructions, process sheets, etc...).

 5. Performing routine material handling associated with the job.

 6. Utilizing, monitoring and performing preventative maintenance activities.

 7. Using appropriate tools such as hand, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or precision.

 8. Ordering and stocking all necessary materials as needed.

 9. Assisting other members of your WG as needed.

10. Participating in Group Training.

11. Participating in WG and plant wide groups.

 

Supports Quality & Continuous Improvement by:

 1. Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills, communications and abilities to                            effectively perform roles and responsibilities within the WG.

 2. Participating as needed in plant wide committees.

 3. Volunteering for WG action register group training responsibility.

4.   Ensuring overall product and process capability.

5.. Ensuring updated process sheets and work instructions for ISO.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 Must be able to obtain within a 3 month period or currently possess a motorcycle license and a motorcycle safety foundation course certificate. Must show aptitude to perform motorcycle assembly tasks. The individual must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including identified interpersonal skills necessary to work in a High Performance Work Organization work group environment. Any applicant not in the Assembly work group will be required to pass the "assembly assessment test."

           

Required Qualifications / Skills:

1.      Must have a minimum of three (3) years of verifiable experience in a motorcycle dealership or equivalent (auto/truck dealership may be acceptable)

2.      Must be proficient with internal combustion engines, Transmissions, and electronic component diagnostics.

3.      Must be proficient with precision tools (Micrometers/Dial Calipers/Dial Indicators/Multi-Meters/Torque Wrenches/etc.)

4.      Must have a strong background in machining/welding/fabrication.

5.      Must be capable of reading and interpreting mechanical drawings/prints/Schematics for the manufacturing of “One Off” prototypical components.

6.      Must be capable of correctly diagnosing component failure and reporting, via oral and written communications (Hand & Electronic) to the appropriate platform team.

7.      Must possess solid interpersonal skills and behaviors.

8.      Must have a valid driver license with a motorcycle endorsement and a minimum three (3) years clean driving record. (Qualifying applicant of all other skills may be considered, if the applicant is capable of obtaining the motorcycle endorsement within three (3) months of employment) 

 

 

 

 

 

Demonstration of mechanical skills test:

 

Candidate(s) will be given a mechanical unit of current production product(s) and may be required to either diagnose a failure condition, or, an unassembled unit for assembly.

 

Candidate(s) will be furnished with all necessary tools, manuals, and components to complete the skills test within an appropriate allotted time.

 

This skills test is a PASS or FAIL test.
